Privacy Policy

Context Cut is a macOS recording, editing, and live-production application operated by Green Line Media, LLC, doing business as Greenline Media Solutions ("Context Cut," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains how the Context Cut application and contextcut.app collect, use, store, disclose, and delete information.

1. Privacy at a glance

  • Your recordings and editing project files stay on your Mac by default.
  • Google OAuth tokens are stored locally in your macOS Keychain and are not sent to or stored on Context Cut servers.
  • You decide when to use optional cloud transcription, publishing, streaming, or other connected services.
  • We do not sell personal information or use Google user data for advertising.

2. Information we collect

Website, account, and waitlist information

When you apply for access or use the website, we may collect your name, email address, sign-in and account timestamps, waitlist answers, tools and platform you use, content and recording preferences, beta feedback, application status, and administrative review notes. If billing is offered, we may store identifiers and subscription status supplied by our payment processor; we do not store full payment card numbers.

Desktop installation and licensing information

The app may send an installation identifier, app version, device public key, server-issued device token, license status, registration time, last-seen time, and signed authentication requests to contextcut.app. The corresponding private signing key remains in your macOS Keychain. We use this information to authenticate the app, deliver access, prevent abuse, and maintain licenses.

Recordings and editing context

When you enable recording, Context Cut can capture the screen, selected windows, camera, microphone, and system audio. It can also create local editing context such as cursor positions, clicks, application or window focus, timing, scene state, transcripts, markers, and edit decisions. Context Cut is designed to redact text values from accessibility-derived interaction telemetry by default. These materials are stored locally in locations you choose and are not uploaded to Context Cut servers merely because you record or edit.

Technical information

Our hosting, security, and email providers may process ordinary request information such as IP address, browser or device type, request time, requested URL, and error or delivery information. The website uses essential session and security cookies for sign-in, fraud prevention, and core functionality. We do not currently use cross-site behavioral advertising cookies.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Context Cut.
  • Authenticate accounts and desktop installations.
  • Review waitlist applications and communicate about access or support.
  • Process user-requested recording, editing, transcription, and publishing actions.
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms.
  • Meet legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

4. Google and YouTube API data

Context Cut uses Google's OAuth 2.0 authorization flow and the YouTube Data API only after you choose to connect your Google account. The app currently requests the youtube.force-ssl scope so it can provide the YouTube features visible in the app.

Data accessed

For an account you authorize, Context Cut may access active broadcast details and a live-chat identifier; live-chat messages; chat author display names and channel status such as owner, moderator, or member; Super Chat or Super Sticker display information; and the result of messages you explicitly choose to send. If additional broadcast-management features are made available, the app may access or change only the broadcast information shown to you and only after your action.

How the data is used

The data is used to discover your active broadcast, display its live chat in your local production workspace or stream overlay, and perform YouTube actions that you explicitly initiate. We do not use Google or YouTube user data for advertising, credit decisions, surveillance, user profiling, or training generalized artificial intelligence models.

Storage and retention

Your Google OAuth client information and refresh token are stored locally in your macOS Keychain. Short-lived access tokens and live-chat data are processed in app memory. Context Cut servers do not receive or retain those OAuth tokens or live-chat data. A chat message may become part of a local recording if you intentionally show the chat overlay in that recording; that local media remains under your control.

Sharing and Limited Use

We do not sell Google user data or transfer it to advertising platforms or data brokers. Context Cut's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy , including its Limited Use requirements. YouTube features are also governed by the YouTube API Services Developer Policies .

Disconnecting, revoking access, and deletion

You can disconnect YouTube in Context Cut. Disconnecting stops the relay and deletes the locally stored Google OAuth information from the app's Keychain. You can also revoke Context Cut's Google authorization from Google Account permissions . You may request deletion of personal information held by us by emailing carter@greenlinemediasolutions.com . We will delete applicable YouTube API data in our possession upon a valid request, or when authorization can no longer be verified, within 30 days unless a shorter period is required by law. Context Cut servers currently do not retain YouTube API data associated with the live-chat integration.

5. Optional third-party services

Context Cut connects to a third party only when you configure or use the corresponding feature. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

  • ElevenLabs: If you choose cloud transcription, the audio needed for transcription is sent to ElevenLabs using the API credential configured for that feature. Local transcription options do not require that transfer.
  • Blotato and selected social platforms: If you choose publishing or scheduling, selected media, captions, metadata, account identifiers, and publishing instructions are sent to Blotato and the destination platforms you select.
  • Resend: We use Resend to deliver sign-in codes and service email.
  • Fly.io: Our website and account services are hosted on Fly.io infrastructure.
  • Stripe: If paid plans are offered, Stripe may process payment and billing information; we retain only related customer and subscription identifiers.

6. When we disclose information

We may disclose information only:

  • to service providers acting for us under appropriate obligations;
  • when you direct us to connect or publish to a third-party service;
  • to protect users, the public, our rights, or the security of the service;
  • to comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request; or
  • in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable notice and consent requirements.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

7. Retention and deletion

We retain account, waitlist, licensing, and support information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security and business records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Desktop device tokens expire and can be revoked. Local recordings and projects remain until you delete them. Keychain credentials remain until you disconnect the applicable service, remove them, or uninstall and clear the application's data.

To request access, correction, or deletion, email carter@greenlinemediasolutions.com . We may need to verify your identity. We may retain limited records where required by law or necessary for security, fraud prevention, or legal claims.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including HTTPS, signed desktop requests, expiring device tokens, access controls, and macOS Keychain storage. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Contact us to exercise a right. You may appeal a denied request by replying to our decision.

10. Children

Context Cut is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can delete it.

11. International processing

We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Context Cut changes. We will post the updated policy and effective date here. If a change materially expands how we use Google user data, we will provide appropriate notice and obtain additional consent before using that data for the new purpose.
